Benefits of exfoliating the lips

Before we start, it is important to understand the benefits of exfoliating the lips. Just like the rest of your body, your lips, too, shed dead skin cells. This messes up the texture of your lips and also makes them chapped and dry. So, while it is important to use your lip balms to hydrate and nourish your lips, you must exfoliate them as well to make sure the lip balm can penetrate deeper and nourish your lips. That’s why you need to scrub your lips one to two times a week to get rid of the dead skin cells and improve the overall appearance of your lips.

Now, coming to the fun part. To make the lip scrub, you need the following ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon brown sugar

½ tablespoon Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly

Start by mixing the olive oil and brown sugar. Once done, add ½ tablespoon of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. Mix well with a spoon. This mixture will last you for a week. So, store it in a small container and use it whenever your lips feel dry and flakey.

Just take a dime-sized amount of this DIY lip scrub and gently rub it on your dry, chapped lips. Continue rubbing until you feel some of the sugar dissolving. Once done, wipe off the remaining scrub on your lips with a towel and then wash with lukewarm water. Exfoliate your scrub twice a week to get the smooth and soft lips of your dreams.
