One of the most beautiful women in the world, a global icon, and a Bollywood superstar, there are very few people in the world who haven’t heard of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. From winning the Miss World title to becoming Bollywood royalty, Aishwarya has sure come a long way.
A regular at the Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya’s fashion and beauty game have been in focus for as long as we can remember. Although she has tried to keep up with her the latest hair and makeup trends, we need to agree that her beauty game has been majorly all about timeless classics.
On Aishwarya Rai’s 46th birthday (yes, we are as shocked as you are :P), we decided to walk down the memory lane, to look at the actress’s very interesting beauty evolution.
This was the year when Aishwarya Rai was crowned the Miss World and left people enthralled with her beauty. Even when she started out, her makeup choices were quite classy. She was usually seen sporting a subtle smokey eye and a flattering lip colour, usually a shade of red.
Mid to late 90s
Aishwarya’s beauty choices have always been quite safe. In the 90s, she was mostly seen sporting natural minimalist makeup. A thin flick of eyeliner, defined brows and a brown or nude metallic lipstick made up her go-to look. As for her hair, Aishwarya preferred to keep her looking extremely natural with big, voluminous waves usually in her natural hair texture.
In the early 2000s, Aishwarya Rai played some amazing characters, and the most iconic has to be her role in Devdas. Dressed in Bengali sarees, Ash flaunted winged eyeliner, fluttery lashes and a huge bindi! She sure looked resplendent. Her offscreen makeup was all about embracing her flawless skin and accentuating her beautiful eyes. She did this with a thin, barely-there eyeliner, oodles of mascara and a brown lippie.
This was when Aishwarya completely shed her girl-next-door image and transformed into a glamourous diva. Sporting medium length beachy waves, heavily bronzed cheeks and nude lip colours, we saw a side to her beauty game that we had never seen before.
2010 to present
The present decade is when we think Aishwarya has truly started experimenting with her hair and makeup. From sporting a lilac lipstick on the Cannes red carpet to colouring her hair a bright shade of red, we’ve been loving the edginess of her beauty choices.
