Here’s how you can prevent your liquid lipstick from drying out your lips

Liquid lipsticks are godsent and if I have to be honest, I am a proud hoarder. If you are a lipstick fanatic like me, you’d know what I’m talking about.

The best part about liquid lipsticks is the sheer variety of colour choices they come in. From vampy purples to electric blues, there are a ton of shades for every girl out there. And not to mention that these babies last on your lips forever. Yes, we are not kidding. A single swipe of a liquid lipstick, and it won’t budge at all (even with the 7 meals you tend to eat).

But, there is just one little problem that comes with wearing a liquid matte lipstick – they’re drying AF. Even after thoroughly exfoliating your lips and applying oodles of lip balm before the lipstick, there is little that can prevent the lips from drying out. But not anymore, ‘cause we have stumbled upon super simple yet effective hacks that will ensure that you kiss goodbye to dry lips once and for all. Read on to find out what it is…

Moisturise well in advance

If you tend to apply some lip balm right before swiping on your liquid lipstick, then the lip balm isn’t going to be exactly effective. If you want to prevent the lipstick from drying out your lips, then you need to moisturise your lips well in advance. The ideal time frame would be to apply your lip balm at least 20 minutes before applying the liquid lipstick to ensure that your lips are thoroughly moisturised.

Don’t forget a lip primer

Just like how it is really important to wear a primer before your base makeup, turns out, it is equally important to do the same before wearing liquid lipstick. Apart from keeping the lip colour from bleeding and elongating its wear time, a primer will form the perfect base for the liquid lipstick to cling to and prevent it from sinking into the lines on your lips.

If wearing liquid lipstick dries out your lips, then you are not alone. No one likes the appearance of cracks that form when you have been wearing liquid lipstick for too many hours. The best way to avoid this issue is to coat your lips in a cream lipstick formula and then apply your liquid lipstick over it.

The cream lipstick will form a protective layer and avoid the liquid formula from zapping away the moisture. Additionally, this will also ensure that the lipstick lasts on your lips for a really long time. Awesome, isn’t it?
