There are two types of people in this world — those who use brushes to blend their makeup, and those who use beauty sponges. And no, we're not saying that one is better than the other, but we will say that there are far more uses to a beauty sponge than just foundation application. Here are a few lesser-known ways to use a beauty sponge, which prove that the beauty tool is a multipurpose must-have in every makeup vanity.
- 1. To amp up your digits
- 2. Heatless curls for the win
- 3. Skincare application
- 4. For baking your face
- 5. Oil-blotting

Apart from the viral french manicure hack, you can also use a trusty beauty sponge to recreate ombré nails! Paint your nails in your favourite colour, add a lighter shade or a glitter shade on your old beauty blender, and tap it on from the centre of your nails to the tip. We wish someone had told us this one earlier!
2. Heatless curls for the win

If we had known our beauty sponges would give us heatless curls, we would have never thrown away the dirty ones! When your beauty sponge is on the verge of a total breakdown, instead of tossing it in the trash, cut it up into pieces and once you have enough, use 'em as hair rollers. Simply use the pieces to roll up sections of your hair, pin them up for the night, and you'll wake up with gorgeous heatless curls in the AM.
3. Skincare application

Got a spare beauty sponge just lying around? One of the other uses for a beauty sponge includes proper skincare application, so make sure you make the most of it — fast! Take a clean beauty sponge (and we mean squeaky-clean!), and use it to apply thicker skincare products such as moisturisers and facial oils. Since the sponge won't absorb the product, it will ensure that it properly penetrates the skin, while ensuring your fingers don't become a sticky mess.
4. For baking your face

If you have an oily T-zone, or if you're just looking for a quick and easy way to make sure your concealer doesn't crease, turn to a beauty sponge to bake your face. Using a trusty setting or translucent powder, go in with a damp beauty sponge and set the powder under your eyes, over your lids, and on any areas prone to creasing and oiliness. Quickly dust it off with a powder brush, and you'll have a crease-less, perfect base for the rest of your makeup.
5. Oil-blotting

Run out of your go-to blotting paper? No worries, because a beauty sponge has got your back! Simply use a beauty sponge to blot your face by dabbing a dry sponge on the oily area, and cut through the shine to reveal a clean, grease-free face. Easy-peasy!
