Mascara has become a desert island essential. Meaning, if you were deserted on an island, one of three things you would carry with you will be a tube of your trusted mascara. It opens up your eyes and adds the perfect finishing touch to your look. But you really need to know how to handle your mascara to get that ‘your lashes, but better’ kinda look.

So if you have an under-5-minute makeup plan in the morning, here are some things to keep in mind when you apply mascara so you look like you have falsies on!

There are many variants and you can choose from lengthening, volumising or waterproof mascaras, depending on what you requirement is. Lakmé Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara is a mascara that addresses all the major requirements of a mascara.

Curl them, girls

This is one step that most of you skip. Curling the lashes preps them and lifts them up. This allows for your eyes to be seen clearly.

Lower lash first

Swipe the mascara wand along your lower lashes first and apply 2 coats and let it dry. This will open up your eyes and will make the upper lash application easier.

Upper lash second

Line the mascara wand at the base of your upper lashes and with a wiggling motion and swipe it up till the ends of your lashes. This separates the lashes and also avoids the formation of clumps.

The removal

The removal

Perhaps, more important than applying the mascara is removing it the proper way. Use a good makeup remover and soak a cotton pad with it. Place the cotton pad on you lashes for 30 seconds and loosen the mascara. Gently wipe away the mascara and other eye makeup. Do not pull and tug at your lashes or the skin around your eyes.
