There are more than one way of applying mascara — yes, you read that right! Different techniques result in varied textures and finishes, and some even make the application easier and fuss-free. While you might already be familiar with the basics of mascara application, we have a few new tricks up our sleeve that will up your eye makeup game even further.

Instead of brushing your lashes horizontally, hold your mascara brush vertically — like a magic wand — and brush up individual sections of your lashes. Use the whole brush for your upper lash and just the tip for your lower lash. The vertical brush helps elongate your lashes without causing any clumping whatsoever!

Fan brushes are a versatile tool because of their unique shape. It is usually used for contouring cheekbones, nose, jawline, forehead, and also as a highlighting tool. But when used on your lashes, it can give you a naturally fluttery and clean finish. Apply some black liner on the ends of the bristles and brush upwards on your lashes.

Dual colouring on your lashes will add an extra touch of highlight to brighten up your eye makeup look. Start by using black mascara; apply and let it dry. Once dry, use a lighter brown mascara to highlight just the tips of the lashes. This method also helps add depth to your lashes and makes your eyes look bigger.

Fan of the cat-eye look? Brush your masaca diagonally — from the inner corner to the outer — to get a cat-eye effect with your lashes. Aim for full coverage with both the top and bottom part of the lashes to ensure maximum hold. Prepping with a lash primer will also give you heaps of volume in the outer corner of your lashes.

Always struggling with your lower lashes? We have an easy hack! Start by wiping off any excess product on the mascara brush with a tissue paper. Then, place the brush gently on the tip of your lower lash and blink on the wand multiple times — this makes applying mascara to your lower lashes easy-peasy.
