Up until some time ago, she was merely known as Kim Kardashian’s little sister. In 2015, all that changed when the youngest sibling of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, the 18 year old Kylie, was no more the demure little girl in the shadows. Currently an accomplished model, a cover girl and a reality star, she’s already changing the rules of the beauty game. Say her name out loud to any beauty fanatic and they’ll sing her praises as a beauty trendsetter with her own line of hair extensions, beauty brand ambassadorships and a look that’s changing quicker than a chameleon.

We’re tracking just how that happened and her hold over the beauty sphere during the course of 2015
Hair

Hair

From a turquoise blue to a silvery grey to a neon green to a dark teal, Kylie has seen her fair share of colour. Before you assume we’re referring to her nail polish, we’re actually talking about her hair colour! Beginning with a tame ombre style brown, she worked her way to a shorter hairdo and peek-a-boo cobalt blue which made for more dramatic colours and cuts. While she used to dye and colour her hair when she began experimenting, she has moved to working with an exclusive wigmaker, Tokyo, who has helped her expand her options greatly without any damage. Her constant hair colour changes sparked a beauty revolution with tones of blue and green being explored like never before. What began as trying something new turned into an obsession as Kylie has stated that she’s addicted to changing her hair because it made her feel like a new person.

Lashes

Lashes

If there is one thing we have learnt from Kylie, it’s that no feature is meant to be played down. Along with the emphasis on most of her features, she also opts for eye catching, fluttery eyelashes to complement her regular look. The trend caught on quickly with beauty influencers everywhere who began decoding the products she used to achieve the look. With the lengthy lashes soon becoming one of her beauty staples, mascara and false eyelashes soon became tedious enough that Kylie committed to eyelash extensions for that voluminous flutter.

Face

Taking up after big sister Kim, Kylie too has followed in her footsteps by opting for a contoured face and chiseled cheekbones. What started out as a simple dabbling with bronzer led to a full fledged makeup regime with over 15 products just to achieve the alabaster skin and sharp face cuts that Kylie has come to be known for. The look grew popular enough to spawn endless Kylie Jenner makeup tutorials and dupes for the products she used for her face. You know you’ve become a successful beauty icon in the digital age when a beauty tutorial is named after you.

Nails

Nails

Since she’s one to take her appearance very seriously, Kylie is not the kind of girl to leave her nails far behind. Keeping her talons as long she can, she still manages to mix things up by changing their shape from squares to almonds to stilettos and finishing them with an edgy shade of polish. Kylie being Kylie, they aren’t just nails, instead, they’re fodder for her Instagram feed as well, accompanied by OTT jewellery, acrylic nails and manicures in every other picture.

Lips

Lips

Last but definitely not the least and instead, the most coveted of her features is her lips. With a number of her growing years being spent in the limelight of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians,’ it was only a matter of time until the distinction between the thin lips of her childhood were drawn against the considerably plumper lips she sports today. That’s when the conspiracy ensued. Was it a phenomenal makeup tip, was it puberty being excessively kind to her or was it surgery, the questions went on until Kylie addressed it. She displayed the technique of overlining that she used on her lips (a brown-mauve lip pencil which made them appear fuller) only to admit much later that she had indeed used lip plumpers sending the media into a frenzy. Like a true Kardashian, she used the wave of popularity to launch a lip kit which helps in achieving the Kylie Jenner lip look.
